Today's word: Nothing

I was really having a hard time with this word. I guess I was focusing too much on the word itself and not the meaning. I was getting ready to give up since I was also running out of time. I was going to be a smart ass and leave it blank. How much of a cop out is that? So, link it to one of my favorite things to do... eat!
This was after a few of us demolished our food at Pho Saigon.

Photo word of the day: Garden

Amanda gave me today's word. I was actually saving this word for last since it was for the most part the easiest. All I had to do was go to the backyard and take a picture. Then I was looking through the pictures I took a couple of weeks ago at Disneyland.

Today's word: Said

Maria gave me this one. I wasn't sure how or what I was going to take a picture of to represent this word. I went back a few days at some of the pictures I've taken and found this one. Natalie found my Post-It notes that I had in my bag...

Said
She was saying something but this is all I heard.

Today's word: Breast

Casey gave me this word. She was DARING me to use it. I was thinking of being all clever and take a picture of chicken breasts or something like that. The heck with that. I was also thinking of getting back at her and use her picture but since her husband is my dentist, I thought, "Uh... maybe I had better not."
So off to the beach I went. I figure if I was going to look for breasts that would be the place to go... well... you know what I mean.

Dozen

I got today's word from Nicolle in Chicago. I thought that eggs would be the obvious and I was going to stay away from that. I found myself counting everything around me hoping to get that magic number. After a while and as the end of the month drew near, I thought maybe eggs may be the best bet. Then this dish came along... I don't particularly like Chinese brocolli.

Author

I was hoping to get a chance to take a picture of one of my friends, Jim Pascoe. He was the officiant for my sister's wedding. He was my first choice for this word from Wil. I didn't think I was going to be able to see him anytime this month. Then I remembered that I went to one of hs book signings and got this...

Photo word: Lamb

Elen gave me today's word of Lamb. I thought this was going to be one of the tougher words to get a picture of on the list. I was thinking of going to some zoo. At a bachelor party dinner, it hit me. We were at a MEATFEST called Greenfield's Brazilian BBQ in West Covina. Well, when they announced the lamb, I thought "Awesome!!!"

Today's word: Radicality

Ryan gave me this word. The first thing I had asked him was, "C'mon! Is this a real word?!" He tells me it is from a book he is reading. Ok, I'm sure the meaning is different from what he was reading but...

Today's word: Surfing

James got himself a Nikon D50 (finally!). So we took it for a spin. We headed down to Belmont Shores down in Long Beach. I figure, while h was getting acquainted with his new camera i would see if I can knock off a word or two with some beach shots. I thought that if anything I can get the word "surfing" out of the way.
It turned out better than I had expected. I never thought that there would such a variety of the different types of surfing. Pulling up, there were more than a dozen parasail kites in the air. The HUGE ones, not the kind I have in the back of my car (What? Doesn't everyone keep a "just in case" kite in their cars?). There were kite surfers, windsurfers and well, surfers. I couldn't get a shot of the kite surfers and their kites. They fly them hign enough that I couldn't get both the surfer and kite in the same frame without losing too much detail. Instead, I zero-ed in on the windsurfers.
Anyway, today's word came from Ryan: Surfing

Today's word: Detergent

I got today's word, detergent from Jolene. I have no idea what she was reading at the time that would have this as the tenth word on the tenth page. I'm going to haveto ask her about that one day. I was going to go to the nearest store and take a picture of he whole aisle but went for the close up and long exposure.Oh yeah, did you know that you are not supposed to take pictures inside grocery stores? Or at least that's what the store manager told me as I was going out the door...

Photo word of the Day: Writer

I wasn't sure what I was going to do about this word. I knew it was going to be difficult, not that I was not going to be able to get a shot but which one to choose. I know so many writers, Celia, Jim, Cousin Angel, the list goes on. Wil gave me this word, so I thouht I would stick with the group of people we have in common. I've gotten used to the fact that the kids from my former church are not your average kids. They are some of the most well-behaved kids I have ever known and they have a pretty good sense of priorities.
As active as they are in different extra-curricular activities in school (sports, music, debate...), they still manage to bring in very impressive grades. Here is Christopher doing his homework in the middle of the chaos.

Today's word: Go

This word came from James (tasty pants). He tells me that he got it from a travel magazine. The word association word he gave me is going to give me problems. Well, at least I got this one out of the way.

Today's Photo word: Replied

Replied

I know I shouldn't be doing this but every once in a while I will play Scripture Roulette. That's when you flip through the Bible and stop randomly and blindly pick out a passage. I always think that it will lead to a profound message intended only for me.
This passage was what I came up with. As far as I understand it, it is about faith. The faith that the centurion had in Jesus. Do I continue to play Scripture Roulette because my own faith is such that I need a voice to tell me "Here I am."? I guess that is something else I need to work on.

Eatfest Weekend and reunion

This weekend was not good for anyone's diet. Separately, maybe it may have passed for a little indulgence but three?
It started Saturday with the Lemon Butter Club meeting. We usually have these meetings every other month so it isn't like we do this to often. But with Donald visiting from Chicago, not that anyone is complaining. We don't see him or his family often enough so when anyone of them is in town it is a reason for getting together and of course, when we get together... food is always involved.
After Sunday's service over at Ambassador Church, we headed out to one of our new favorite places to go , Pho Saigon. We went here for lunch last week and packed the place in. Normally, the owner Alex would be happy at such a big crowd but the cook at his other restaurant up and quit without warning so he sent the cook here to the other place. He figured it was pretty quiet so he could take over the kitchen duties. Then we walked in and other parties came in after us.
We did not bring in as large a crowd yesterday but we were still a party of 20+.

Tokyo Lobby: Dinner and a mini reunion
Everytime anyone from the Moy clan comes into town for a visit, more likely than not a dinner at Tokyo Lobby will take place. This visit was no exception, with a meet time of 6:00pm people started trickling in a few minutes before. When it comes to food, this group can be on time. There have been a number of changes to this Tokyo Lobby. It has been sold so there is a new owner and the regular staff are all gone. Once we got seated at our usual corner, we all got to ordering. A logistical nightmare for someone not familiar with this group.

It never fails. After spending more than an hour AFTER eating sitting around in the restaurant, there is still another half hour of goodbyes in the parking lot... and more pictures.

The ladies and the kids tried their version but it was such a terrible attempt that I'm not even going to put up the pictures... James didn't (couldn't) jump with the rest of the guys. I think he was really full.
