Disneyland

When Celia emailed me asking if I wanted to go to Disneyland with her and Jim Friday, I only had to ask what time are we going? I haven't been to Disneyland in a while and I have been looking for any excuse, reason to go!
I asked a good friend, Nakita to come along. As she has not been to Disneyland since... well... in a longer while she also asked when do we leave.
A lot has changed since I last visited but a lot of things were still very familiar and comforting.

The parades are still fun and the floats are still awesome. Then there's Mickey and Minnie!

Small world is still big and I still sing along when going through it. In front with Nakita.

Last shot before we left.

Oh yeah! I finally got my picture with Goofy!!!!

Space Mountain

Ok, so who wants to go? I want to go back!!!

Bye Julia +

It started out as a goodbye to Julia lunch. She will be going to Costa Rica for 8 months for school and a mission trip. She had a big send off last Saturday at Casa Lim, but I was not able to attend due to a wedding. I wanted to see her before she left for Napa (home) then to Costa Rica. I realized that the rest of the Biolans were also leaving (for the summer), so.....

Daniel, Cammi, Julia, Joe, Marcus and Laura have a great summer! Keep in touch.

Corrupting the In Laws

The day after Celia and Jim's engagement party, we took our parents out for aMother's day dinner. My aunts from Hawaii who were in town for the party, Jim's mother and my mom were the honored moms. Celia, Jim, James (my brother in law, not "Tasty Pants") gave the moms orchids.
After dinner Jim's parents had a couple of hours to kill before their flight back to Minnesota, so how did they pass the time?
My parents and aunts taught them to play Mah-Jong!
Their only chance is that maybe they weren't playing long enough to get addicted...

Celia and Jim's Engagement Party

My sister Celia and Jim formally announced their engagement on the 13th of this month. They threw an engagement party that our incredible friend Adam hosted at his beautiful penthouse. Things got a little rushed, delayed, then rushed again... you know the usual when it comes to any party. A lot of things were overlooked so there was a bunch of running around, hurry up and wait, then hurry up again before the party got started. Again James and Stephanie stepped up to the plate! Thanks guys!!
While James and I ran around town to pick up last minute food with Jim, Stephanie organized everything at the penthouse, the family pitched in while dad carved up the "honored guest." While the party got started, James and I were in the kitchen cooking up about 500 eggrolls that we had planned on doing and finishing before the party sterted... Thanks James.

We actually met Celia's future in-laws earlier for brunch... Celia had an excellent vocal artist perform after dinner. Her name is Hope and if you ever get the chance to hear her sing definitely take it. She has an incredible voice. Here she is between me and Berda. Man! we clean up pretty good. Yeah, well at least they did... I wish I was able to take more pictures, then again there are some things that might be better off not being recorded right cuz?

Doesn't make sense

There is a group led by a Fred Phelps and "his" Westboro Baptist Church" in Topeka, Kansas. For a "church" they do nothing but spit out hate and even more hate. I cannot understand how these people can think this way and yet from what they teach (and when I say teach I mean brainwash) their children

The group (I refuse to call them a church) has picketed the homosexual community in hundreds of events nationwide. They have taken to spread their message of hate by picketing the funerals of fallen soldiers. Spouting hateful messages to the families and mourners saying God hates America because it supports gays.

I came upon a group calling themselves the Patriot Guard Riders. Anyone interested in learning more of their history can read about it here. Briefly, a group of five American Legion Riders was outraged by the WBC's picketing of a soldier's funeral in Kansas. Upon hearing that the same group was going to protest another funeral in Oklahoma, they organized a group to limit the intrusion of the funeral by the WBC with the permission of the fallen soldier's family.
The Patriot Guard Ridershave 2 main missions:
  1. Show our sincere respect for our fallen heroes, their families, and their communities.
  2. Shield the mourning family and friends from interruptions created by any protestor or group of protestors.

We accomplish the latter through strictly legal and non-violent means.

I had joined the Patriot Guard Riders in March. At first, my support of the group was in the form of "atta boy" or a contribution to the group. Last Saturday, I joined the group to pay respects to Pfc Raymond L. Henry. Fortunately, there were no protestors from WBC and the family and friends were able to say good bye in peace.

Thank you Pfc. Raymond L. Henry for your ultimate sacrifice.
